The following are some of my favorite links…personal and professional.
If you feel I should be linking to your site, I’d love to hear from you.
Catalyst (www.Catalyst.org) The place to go for the statistics on women in business. I’m proud to say that President Ilene Lang was once my boss a very long time ago. Talking Pictures (www.Neiljmurphy.com) My husband Neil photographs beautiful, strange, and fabulous things, some of which he shares. The rest adorn the walls at my house. I’m out of wall space. He is, however, never out of photographs and maintains multiple blogs simultaneously. Snowboarding for Women (www.Snowboardingforwomen.com) Chickie Rosenberg rocks! And you have to see her or listen to her speak to understand why. There I was, wanting to quit my snowboarding lesson after five minutes. But how can you quit and say “I’m tired” when your instructor has you beat by 17 years and is close to taking mandatory distributions from her IRA? By the way, Chickie is also a brilliant Art historian. What a fabulous role model! Mary Kay Skincare (www.marykay.com/sfmurphy) While genes play a big part, I find that taking care of my skin is key to feeling good about myself. I’ve learned to love my face. I discovered Mary Kay products and the pink and fuzzy ‘empowerment’ message of the company during the difficult time around 9/11/01. Considering how much money I used to spend at the counters at Saks, I’m glad I did. Anyway, I consume so much of it that I’m a consultant and enjoy selling it to others. If you pay a lot of money for brand name products like La Prairie and Clarins (my former favorites), try a Miracle Set plus eye cream. If you want to source products for your friends and family, join my team of happy slatherers. But also, please pay attention to the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation (www.mkacf.org) for the research of women’s cancers and the prevention of domestic violence. Mary Kay covers almost ALL of the administrative expenses, enabling most of the money to go directly to the cause. I wish all not-for-profit charities were so above-board. While Mary Kay Ash is no longer with us, I’m always proud to remind people she was considered the greatest woman in business of the 20th Century. (Lifetime Television, 1999) Xenon Consulting (www.xenonc.com) Brilliant business intelligence software, implementation, and training with high integrity. Pia and her team are an asset to any organization determined to gain a data-driven analytic edge. Face Forward Fitness (www.face4fitness.com) Sherilee does faces, fitness, and modeling. If you have an event or a performance that requires false eyelashes, she’s your woman. And don’t mess with her—I’ve seen how much she can bench press. Patient Advocate Foundation (www.patientadvocate.org) The Patient Advocate Foundation is a national non-profit organization that seeks to safeguard patients through effective mediation assuring access to care, maintenance of employment and preservation of their financial stability. They've been successfully solving insurance and healthcare access challenges for over 10 years. I hope you never need to call them. But it's great to know they're out there. Cosmos Connection (www.cosmosconnection.com) A wonderfully spiritual site for a wonderfully spiritual guy. Reverend Joe Allegro is an ordained minister who caters to those with special spiritual needs. One chat with Joe and you'll have a new friend and new wisdom that you'll be able to use for the rest of your days. |
